Transformers: The Game is a third-person action-shooter based on the 2007 live action film.

In Transformers: The Game the player assumes the role of a transformer, a giant robot that can transform into a vehicle at will. The game allows the player to roam the map freely and is highly interactive. The transformer can grab and throw cars, use palm trees as weapons, and climb buildings. Some objectives involve racing to a locale before a time limit expires. Be careful, as enemy Decepticons are scattered throughout the map in disguise as cars. They will attack you unprovoked.

As the player achieves various objectives, more playable characters are unlocked. Both Optimus Prime and the Decepticon leader Megatron are playable.

The game starts off with Bumblebee battling Decepticon drones. He meets up with Sam as in the movie, and before long the search for the All Spark is on. Once that plot line is resolved, the player has the choice to play through the game from the Decepticons point of view. This is a lot of fun. Missions involve rampaging and destroying cities and military bases. Explosions look awesome in this game, and building damage feels real. It is very impressive that they were able to get the original voice actor to play Megatron.

There are a few side quests, many of which involve killing enemies of a certain type. There is also some content to unlock, including clips from the film and skins that make the transformers look like their cartoon versions.

The original voice of Optimus Prime from the 1984 cartoon series, Peter Cullen, plays the voice of Optimus Prime. Mark Ryan plays Bumblebee, and Frank Welker reprises his role as Megatron from the 1984 series. Shia LeBouf and Megan Fox also reprise their respective movie roles in the game. Carl Weathers, who played Apollo Creed in the Rocky movies, was one of the voice directors for this production.

The free demo allows the player to play through the opening Bumblebee section of the game. It is free-roaming and also contains a few objectives. Be sure to try out transforming and racing. There is a good chance the cops will end up chasing you. You can outrace them and reach a few achievements that way. The faster you drive, the move achievements are unlocked.

Rooftops contain energon cubes so it is worth it to check that out as well. Most of the environments are interactive and destructible. Just remember, as an Autobot, you're not supposed to be stepping on citizens underfoot! The cars will explode, so be careful if you pick one up. If it blows up in your hands, you will take massive damage.
